When you buy our meat, you can be assured that the sheep have been raised to the very best standards in animal welfare. We only ever sell meat that we ourselves have raised on our farm so you can be sure of the provenance and traceability.

We keep mainly Cheviot and Cheviot cross Bluefaced Leicester sheep that graze on Bethecar Moor, Parkamoor and around Coniston Water. They have a wonderfully varied forage that is reflected in the beautiful flavours in the meat.

Lamb is 6 to 9 months old, hogget is 9 months to 18 months old and mutton is 18 months to roughly 3 years old. Most people are used to buying lamb but hogget and mutton offer a less fatty meat that is full of flavour and has a firmer texture, excellent for slow cooking and curries.

Lamb boxes are available from August to January. Hogget and mutton is available most of the year round.

We use a small, family-run, local abattoir that we know and trust. The meat is butchered and vac packed into average family meal-sized portions. Each box will contain a mix of roasting joints, such as boned rolled leg, chops and mince.

When we make up the boxes for sending out, we always aim to give a good selection. However, if there’s something particular you’d like more of, or something you don’t want in your meat box, please let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.

The meat is sent by overnight courier in cardboard and polystyrene boxes with ice packs.  This keeps the meat at fridge temperature for up to 48 hours. After much research we decided to use Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) or air pop® as it’s often called. It’s the most economical solution and is 100% recyclable. EPS is 98% air and is manufactured in some of the most modern, environmentally certified factories where only steam and high pressure is used during the moulding process.
