Pedigree Luing cattle
Luing cattle were developed on the island of Luing in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland by the Cadzow brothers in 1947. It was formed by crossbreeding Beef Shorthorn bulls with Highland heifers. The breed are moderately sized and extremely hardy, the intent being to produce a good beef cow with the ability to raise a calf in adverse weather conditions and on poor grazing. It was officially recognised as a breed in 1965.
We started our herd of pedigree Luings in 2013 bought from breeders in the North West of Scotland. They are well-suited to our system of farming being capable of living outdoors all year round and are thriving. They are very easy to handle and quiet.
We will be selling some pedigree stock from Autumn 2016. Please contact us for more details.
